Most tools are designed to give answers. A calculator solves math problems. A microscope shows what’s too small to see. A telescope, on the surface, does the same. It makes faraway objects clearer. But unlike other tools, a telescope doesn\u2019t just teach science\u2014it teaches how to think.<\/p>

When a young person looks through a telescope for the first time, there\u2019s usually silence. No one needs to explain what they\u2019re seeing.
