About The Author
Have you ever heard someone say, “I believe in prayer,” and wondered if they truly live it?
Evangelist Dr. Evon McMurry doesn’t just believe in prayer; she breathes it. For over 33 years, she’s walked hand in hand with God, led by a calling that’s both fierce and tender. From humble beginnings to powerful moments at the pulpit, her life has been marked by one determined truth: prayer changes everything.
She’s the founder of Word Empowerment to Serve Ministry (W.E.T.S.), a ministry rooted in service, healing, and genuine community, not just a typical church. She also created Women of Substance, a place where women don’t just find a seat at the table; they rise to their calling. Whether she’s leading a Bible study, laying hands in prayer, or helping a displaced mother find hope through the Second Chance Crisis Intervention Center, Dr. McMurry meets people where they are with wisdom, compassion, and no pretense.
A Journey Shared
She doesn’t just preach healing; she lives it.
Her ministry extends beyond church walls into Loving Hands Senior Care, where she walks alongside seniors facing the challenges of aging and loss, offering not just support but also dignity. She’s a Mental Health Coach, a Certified Death Doula, and a Naturopathy Practitioner, titles that reflect her belief that ministry isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s a heart work. It’s listening. It’s loving people in the middle of their pain.
Ordained in 1991, Dr. McMurry has spent more than three decades equipping others to walk boldly in faith. And through it all, whether in a pulpit, a hospital room, or a one-on-one conversation, her message remains the same:
God still speaks. And prayer is how we hear Him.
