Education and Experience

Dianne obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UNC-Wilmington and received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University. She is a North Carolina native who has worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. She has direct experience working with clients in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential settings.   Dianne has experience in counseling clients from diverse backgrounds struggling with various mental health issues.

Dianne provides individual services to adults and teens challenged with symptoms associated with trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, domestic abuse, divorce, parenting, and life transitions.

Modalities Used

Dianne believes in using an individualist, holistic approach with clients. She uses an integrated approach and mainly employs aspects from Person-Centered Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. This integrative counseling approach strives to balance mindful awareness, a genuine and empathic relationship with the client, and a collaborative effort to identify what changes a client can make to minimize emotional and behavioral disturbances. She also has worked extensively facilitating groups and conducting individual counseling.

Dianne strives to empower and assist her clients by expanding a healthy awareness, providing non-judgmental support, and teaching adaptive coping skills. She offers patients effective and helpful depression treatment options. Dianne believes that people have the skills, competencies, beliefs, values, and abilities that will help them reduce the influence of problems in their lives and that it is the therapist’s job to enable clients to thrive on their own. By learning how to self-evaluate and developing their own abilities to meet difficult thought processes and situations with awareness, acceptance, and kindness, clients will be able to make the changes that will allow them to live a satisfying and fulfilling life with less suffering.
