Education and Experience
Shara received her Master of Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She spent 8 years as a pediatric nurse, including five years working at UNC Children’s Hospital in the pediatric intensive care unit. Through this experience, Shara realized that her passion was caring for children, adolescents, and young adults with mental health concerns. She joined Dr. Casey’s practice in 2020 to pursue that calling.

Shara is experienced working with neurodivergent children and adults, and has received CBT training for anxiety and OCD.

Types of Clients/Patients seen by this provider
Shara provides medication management services for children, adolescents, and young adults up to 25 years old for depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, PTSD, OCD, and mood disorders. She is an excellent listener, a social anxiety therapist, and she often integrates counseling for trauma into medication management appointments as well.

Shara emphasizes a holistic approach to mental health care that includes supplements, lifestyle choices, therapy, and medication to help young people live full and healthy lives.
About the Provider
Shara lives in the Triangle area with her husband, two sons, and three cats. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, cooking, and hanging out with her family. She also finds time to volunteer with the Goathouse Refuge in Pittsboro and the Autism Society of North Carolina’s Camp Royall in Moncure.
