Education and Experience
Susan Youngsteadt (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor (LCSW-S). While she began her career working with children and families, her work has grown – becoming more rooted in working with young adults and adults with trauma, loss, depression, and anxiety, as well as life transitions. Susan also recently completed training as an End-of-Life [Death] Doula. Susan graduated from North Carolina State University (go Wolfpack!) in 2016 with her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. Through her ongoing commitment to professional development, Susan is dedicated to being among the most experienced and effective mental health providers in the area.

Susan enjoys helping her clients gain a greater understanding of themselves and their lives. At this time, she sees individuals ages 16+ for outpatient therapy. She believes having someone you can trust, who offers validation and individualized support, is essential to creating long-lasting and effective change.

Susan provides an empathic, non-judgmental environment to explore life’s challenges and develop skills to overcome them. Her approach to therapy is built on relationships and transparency. Susan will partner with you and work to provide practical feedback, allowing you to work together to accomplish YOUR goals. Professionally nicknamed “the challenger” due to her direct, relational, engaged style of therapy and reputation of holding people accountable, she uses a holistic approach, looking at the health of the whole body, mind, and spirit. Susan is LGBTQ-affirming and works from a trauma-informed approach. She is dedicated to being culturally competent and continues to seek support to better serve her clients.
About the Provider
In addition to her work with her clients in private practice, Susan has served as co-chair for the local child advocacy center, empowering caregivers and preventing child abuse and neglect and is an active volunteer of various local agencies. In her free time, Susan enjoys gardening, reading, puzzling, various video games, and spending time with her pets and partner.
